This jacket, born from the Alpinestars Tech-Air® family, includes the Tech-Air® Race and Tech-Air® Street systems. Alpinestars continues to lead the way in active airbag technology for riders and their passengers and Tech-Air® 5 is a powerful demonstration of Alpinestars’ commitment to making the technology more freely available as the best possible choice of “active” airbag protection in the market.
It comes with an active electronic system with six built-in sensors (3 gyroscopes and 3 accelerometers) and a collision algorithm that leverages AI to accurately monitor when to deploy the airbag in the event of an accident. Driving data from millions of kilometres and thousands of accidents has been analysed to continuously improve the intelligent accident detection algorithm.
When identifying a collision situation, a protective airbag is deployed, providing unparalleled protection to the pilot with a maximum inflation time of 20 to 40 ms depending on the volume of the airbag size.
